In the past two months, since “The Secrets in the Soil / Ngā Kura Huna ā-Nuku” was printed, she has been requested from folk all around Aotearoa N.Z. And there have been a wonderful range of bouquets sent to me. I include here some from my whanau. From two nieces describing their children’s response, and one niece who was so inspired she began building a compost. And my sister-in-law describing her grandson’s response to the book.
First niece: “The books arrived this morning. They are just wonderful - the children and I loved them. Information is perfect. I absolutely loved the illustrations, I particularly loved the expressions on the chooks’ faces …it was great to lose myself in the illustrations”.
Second niece: “As soon as the beautiful books arrived Amy sat and browsed the entire book and Sam sat up to draw just like you do! Here they are (photo) both getting back to drawing. Thank you for the inspiration.”
Sister-in-law: “I enjoyed reading the book to Jimmy. He was very interested and interacted throughout. He even helped me with the Maori translation and described the contents of his father’s compost heap!”
Third neice: “I am following the instructions at the back of the book. You’ve inspired me! Will send a photo shortly - have to clear a space in the garden first.”
This photo arrived soon after…!
Requests and comments continue to arrive. Given the subject of the book is the microbes in the soil, it’s not surprising that I’m being sent a lot of bouquets of flowers!
